hi
i'd like to make a synth which would sound quite like the metal
wind-blown instruments ..
unfortunatly i haven't got Perry Cook's book handy, i had from the
library before, but now ..
has anyone done any of similar stuff in pd?
my project is not about making the same sound and/or simulate the
really i know close to nothing about midi handling in pd, but i remember
reading somewhere that midi latency is connected to the audio latency
because midi information is passed along with the audio. so, perhaps that
has something to do with the message-length restriction?
synth secrets has a few chapters on brass instruments:

starting at chapter 24.

Hi,
after download (repeated) I get an error message from different unrar
apps bascially claiming that it is NOT a rar archive or any other
extractable.
/pd-0.42-3.mac.tar is not RAR archive
No files to extract
Does someone have better experiences?

Thanks for your answer.
ah i think you are experiencing the joys of pd-extended.
the solution is simple: just checkout the entire externals branch and
redo what you have done.
You are right I do use Pd version 0.40.3-extended...
What do you mean with checkout the eternals branch ? I renamed the

you have to use Pd's lists, and then it's 64 or 128 bits per char.
And then, in theory, Pd could adopt any internal rep, as long as file

and the didgeridoo, apparently. if i made a mistake as to what a brass
instrument actually is, then fair enough. it's confusing.

do you mean that it is something like a brassy saxophone? :-)
whatever, stuff it does it. thanks for your help! for your info, as
stuffit does NOT unpack rar archives many people use other freewares.
Those freewares however don't do tar. beautiful.

Hi list,
A while ago, we have been discussing seamless (i.e. click-free)
recordings of two consecutive audio files using [writesf~]. For the
record, let me summarize that seamless recording of two files is
generally possible, also _without_ delaying the start/stop messages to

Hi again,
This little demo patch illustrates seamless recording as well as the
suggested [z~]-hack for seamless playback:

Regardless of what kind of sound you're trying to make, the Synth

learning how to do it.

Ahh, thanks! I just viewed the diff of desire data's s_midi_alsa.c
and made the changes I needed for my version.. though, I would
eventually like to be able to share this patch that needs this larger

I'm using pd with these arguments:
-alsamidi
-mididev 1
I'm using Pd version 0.42-3
When I start pd it connects its outputs to all available midi inputs
and its inputs to all available midi outputs.. this is a huge
annoyance, I'd prefer to have to manually connect to the one or two
destinations
