Linux runs on a lot of different processors and they don't all have the
same binary instruction set.

Media - Load Meter (iirc) loads a patch that uses [metro] and [cputime]

You might want to check into the Activity Monitor (it is in the
Utilities folder on the Mac), and check to see if there are any
stray instances of PD still running. I have found that when PD
crashes on my machine, it will still have an instance of PD still
running, even though the GUI has shut

I'm revising the helpfiles, and I noticed some weird behavior while
looking at pointer-help.pd:
1. Hook up a [get template1 y] to the first pointer example.
2. Traverse and click next to the end of the list.
3. Get happily outputs the y field for template2 without error.
Which makes

that behaviour comes from the OS, those objects listen to the events
that are sent to pd from the X server, not to the raw USB events that
[hidio] uses. To fix your problem you have change the key repeat
preferences on whatever OS you are using. You may also find you have
issues with which
