we have it up and running on gumstic connex 400 and are finishing the project for the end of the month. we're using the combined GPS and audiocard which works well, altough the audio quality is not a 100% pristine. we'll post builds and added externs and a documentation once the whole thing

One thing you might like to look at is the Fletcher Munsen curve. There isn't a hard mathematical relationship between perceived amplitude (loudness) and frequency, it's more of a biological and psychoacoustic effect, and somewhat subjective between listeners.
