[PD] phase mod

2009-12-28 Thread y

hello

while trying to port some phase mod sc patches to pd, I realized that
[osc~] does not accept signal in its phase inlet (while sc's SinOsc and
max's cycle~ do).

what would be the best way to do phase modulation on sine waves in pd then ?

thanks,

Something like this, perhaps:

frequency

[phasor~]
 |
 | modulation
 | /
[+~]
 |
[cos~]
 |
output

Hi,

I use /dev/video2 to get a mjpeg live stream into PD.
With pix_video I can open my webcam, but when I open the virtual video
device (/dev/video2) i get an error, i guess todo with the fact that
it's not a real webcam:

error: Cannot open '/dev/video2': 25, Inappropriate ioctl for device
GL: invalid enumerant--

Is there other ways to get it fixed in GEM?

With pdp_v4l i can open the virtual device, but I want to try it in GEM,
mostly because GEM is better documented, I need to add several jpeg/png
pictures on both sides of that stream.

Thanks..

Okay, after that, it compiled. whew. Still, pd's gui will not run

architecture, I still can't tell:

It is there, they are all i386 and tcl/tk are universal binaries, so
I don't know. Anyone else?

Running pd with no gui and jack works.

My conclusion was that the user needs to do something else when the

Re: [PD] compiling pd vanilla problems on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Hans,

The gui rewrite version works fine on my computer, but I need
Pd-Vanilla/Extented for testing purposes. Not to mention, there are various
small bugs in the gui rewrite branch that make it difficult to use when I'm
making music.

The problem is also that the wacom external I am working with * only * works
with the pd-gui-rewrite branch, but I don't know if that is because I
compiled it from source (with maybe a different version of Tcl/Tk) or
because you re-wrote the Tk code to use Apple Events in a different way.

About 64-bit, I've decided to just compile all my music software as 32-bit
for now, it seems to be too early for most apps still to run everything as
64-bit (and no real gain any way). Most everything pre-compiled (ex.
pd-extended) is 32-bit, anyway.

So, that said, anyone have any suggestions on what is going wrong with my
libPdTcl.dylib? The version included with Pd-extended is also i386, yet tk
doesn't complain about it when running Wish...

 (file /usr/local/lib/pd/bin/pd.tk line 67)
 ^CPd: signal 2

It is there, they are all i386 and tcl/tk are universal binaries, so I
 don't know. Anyone else?

Running pd with no gui and jack works.

 regards,
 Rich

[PD] messing with the gem window

2009-12-28 Thread sonia yuditskaya
Hello Again List,

I was wondering, and sorry if this has been brought up before, is there a
way to make a message that is something like:

[name $1 $2(

where I can send variables to $1 and $2 dynamically

and then send the message?

I am trying to make a kind of control panel for gemwin where you don't have
to keep manually changing the settings but can do it with something more
relative like sliders, hopefully to eventually make a general control panel
for all of my gem uses and not have to finick with guts anymore.

any insight on messages or gem is super appreciated!

works for you. Am i right in thinking, that this probably gavl related and
   not [readanysf~] specifally?

Yes, it seems it was completely gavl related. But, thanks to your
reports and effort, I think we now have the problem licked.

Please check out the latest gavl from cvs and let me know if that helps.

I tried that _before_ Christmas and it was the same. Now, after cvs
updating gavl _after_ Christmas, [readanysf~] plays all channels fine.

Thanks a lot for that Christmas gift ;-)

Cool. Glad it worked.

Perhaps Burkhard made some fine tuning in the mean time. These kinds of
reports with example files really help debug and make software better.

Right, the idea of the exhibition is that people write up little
articles on cool projects that other people did.
