[PD] Hello!
I have been working with PD for a couple weeks now, so I guess this is my way of saying 'hi' to the community. I've managed to make heaps of FM stuff, and I'm getting into learning all the wavetable type objects and how they work. I've probably have gone through half of the tutorials. It seems to be working well with me, as I have been programming my own synth patches for years including some modular synthesizers. As an audio engineer/enthusiast with a six year time (semi-long for being 21) composing in many DAWs and trackers I also have had concrete knowledge of the physics of digital audio prior to starting. It's great fun, more stable than Reaktor which I think is yuck to begin with, and I'm mostly learning for the lack of good live granular synthesis on the mac. [PD] Working with lists
Hello all, I'm trying to figure out the best way to deal with lists in Pd but some things are still not clear. I have a table that changes its content on the fly, e.g. taking input from somewhere else and I'm using a select at a determined point to dump the table as a list of values using the [tabdump] object. Then I would like to interfere in some values in this list, either randomly or at a given position, but the fact is that since this list is a bit big (30+ values) it doesn't seem the best way to unpack it (my object would be gigantic, I think) and deal with the single values. Is there a way to change a specific value in a list without unpacking it in the first place? [PD] Window focus in gem
Hi list, I have a patch where I'm running the audio in one instance of pd and gem in another with -noaudio. I have the audio pd patch sending the output of [keyname] to gem pd via [netsend], but after starting the patch in fullscreen the audio pd patch loses the window focus. It works to begin with for a few keystrokes, then I can no longer control the audio. I have a [gemkeyname] object in the gem patch which then takes over (presumably triggered by the gem activity that was controlled from the audio pd patch), but I lose the audio pd control. I tried adding another netsend (on a different port) back to the audio pd, but then I get some double triggers! So, what is the best way to maintain focus on one particular window? It would be fine if the gem window has focus all the time, or the audio pd window but I haven't worked out how and why it changes. Thanks! I checked it out a couple of days ago and it's pretty cool! The weird polysynth you had was an interesting design as well. I'm currently playing around with the tables, seeing what all they are capable of in a half scientifical/half trial and error fashion... I think it is the coolest thing about modular environments, since it makes for less of a headache prototyping some sort of design method. For all of the power Csound has, (which has opcodes for everything and seems to take nothing less than a printout dictionary to even be usable beyond sine waves) it is something that don't do well even though it does everything else. Re: [PD] pd crashes when trying to use built-in line in in MacBook Pro
I've only heard of such crashes on 10.6 .hc On Feb 18, 2010, at 2:43 PM, Matteo Sisti Sette wrote: Matteo Sisti Sette escribió: matteo sisti sette escribió: Hi, On a MacBook Pro, if I go into Peferences/Audio settings and try to choose built-in input (as opposed to Built-in Microphone which is the default), Pd crashes. [PD] No voltage-controlled lowpass filter?
Hi, Is vcf~ (which is bandpass) the only available type of signal-controlled (smoothly-changing) filter? Doesn't the voltage-controlled version of lop~ and hip~ exist? Is it for a mathematical reason? (i.e. impossibility to implement in a relatively simple way) Or is it because it is trivial to build it in PD? If so, how? And if not, how would you approximate it, that is create in PD something similar to a simple low-pass filter whose cutoff frequency is controlled by a signal? thanks m. P.S. of course I'm talking about PD Vanilla... -- Matteo Sisti Sette matteosistise...@gmail.com http://www.matteosistisette.com ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management - http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list
Re: [PD] No voltage-controlled lowpass filter?
hello, there is a lot of discussion about filter in this list. if you wish to build filter with vanilla object, you can build yours with pole~ and zero~ objects. you can also use biquad~ object. you can also use expr~ to make an equivalent of my bq~ object and use my abstraction to compute coeficients. and there is certainly lot's of other possibility with pure vanilla pd... and lot's more with externals... c Matteo Sisti Sette a écrit : Hi, Is vcf~ (which is bandpass) the only available type of signal-controlled (smoothly-changing) filter? [PD] Pd-extended 0.42 WinXP: Increase browser, path and startup font size
Hi list, I installed Pd 0.42.5-extended-20100214 the other day on this XP machine and only now I've noticed that the fonts in the help browser (as well as startup and path) window are.. well.. very tiny (even for my short-sighted-1024 screen resolution. Any suggestion on how to increase the size? Thanks, Lorenzo. ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management - http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list
