You could try pd-l2ork. Ubuntu is our dev platform and we have both 32-bit
and 64-bit builds. They are currently binaries with install scripts as I
find those to be easier to deal with dev-wise. If anyone wants to build a
deb I'll gladly post those on our site as well.

does anyone has a funcional UDMX external working for pd in OSX

i didn't use the udmx but the enttec open dmx. not directly from pd but
i controlled the software QLC [1] via midi.
that worked quite well and it also supports the udmx.
but your problem with the external should be solved easily. did you
install libusb?
