yes it's possible, but usually you don't want that.
what are those some externals that aren't fully compatible?

i've been using native 64bit builds on 64bit linuxes for about 10 years now.

Howdy,
another 64-bit guy here. My advice: go with the 64-bit version, and most
likely you will never experience a problem related to 64-bitness. If you
do, or in doubt, report it here so Pd can be improved. If later, by any
chance, you run into a 64-bit problem which cannot be fixed soon with the
help of the mailing list, you can still install a 32-bit copy. (You have to
force the package manager to install the 32-bit package then use the
'getlibs' utility to satisfy dependencies for 32-bit software on 64-bit.)

Gem has always been working on this computer, but I believe
 there
has been some changes in system configuration that is really
obscure for me, if only I had a tool that would tell me what's
 happening with graphic acceleration...
The only point I could get with OpenGL Extension Viewer is
 that
it could not find driver version, and in display
settings/Troubleshot tab it says that drivers couldn't allow
acceleration, no more clue, reinstalling drivers doesn't change
anything, the only option I have is about reinstalling windows,
or even better, installing w7 or w8.
Thank you for taking care about this.

Re: [PD] the next PdCon in...

2013-04-01 Thread Alexandre Torres Porres
On that matter, why don't we start discussing this. What I have to ask is,
how good or bad can it be that the conventions start coming yearly but
smaller? Is it better to wait 2-3 years for a bigger/blastfull one?

I'm not sure about the answer.

All I can say is what I've said before. We're planing to start an yearly
event here in 2012, and we could host pd in a similarly tied fashion - too
early to say how big it could be either.

anyway, holding on for your thoughts before I start saying something ;)

Golan Levin and Dan Wilcox are the people at CMU that would be the
 organizers.
From what I've heard, they are interested in doing something, but
 probably a
smaller version, and tied to the VIA art festival, so the dates would only
 be
 Oct 1-5:

 http://www.via-pgh.com/

So we should decide whether that sounds workable, or whether we should just
focus all efforts on getting a full pdcon next year.
