posibilidades.

Re: [PD] vanilla, extended, svn and x86_64

2009-09-24 Thread el jay
hello i have recently built pd -extended for debian 64 unstable(sid) using
2.30 rt kernel--
i can give you some advises.. pd builds without anyproblem.. the extended
packages most build ok.. so of them require changing the flags...and some
packeges directly didnt build...(i guess you can live with out them, i do
:-) ) if you need help i can send you the altered make files...
one problem i had wasnt able to compile a .deb file to install.. so i had
to manually install pd coping the files form the src folder to there
respective /etc and /lib folders..

2009/9/24 Pierre pie...@314r.net

 Hi,

  thanks to this script :

 http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pd-extended-svn/pd-extended-svn/PKGBUILD
I have now pd-0.42.5-extended and a lot of libs running on x86_64 ! nice
 :)

 good to hear!

 Yes !
and I can tell, for now, the performances seems very good ! I mean, really
better than on my old system !
I've just tested with a patch I'm writing for an art installation (a kind
of realtime and ajustable timelapse) and I had previously some lags
(pd-extended nightly-build on hardy heron 32bit), lags which have
 disappeared now !
All image are saved and played back nicely without any lags. Great !

So, I must test more in depth but my first impression is very good :)

 ia32lbs an ---force-architecture
  gave me libsasound2 problems..
so i found a tutorial that explain how two build from source for
64bits.. i have managed to compile the extended libraries.. and run
make install make packages... here everything gives the ok.. and
then after compiling for a while it gives me an error saying that i
have a problem with DEBIAN/control file on line 9.. in depends field,
that i its missing a packages name or that garbage has been found..
when checking this file.. in the place of dependes it says: xterm,
 ttf-bitsream-vera

i dont really understand what the problem is.. can somebody helpme

It's probably missing a comma: xterm, ttf-bitsream-vera--- add
 ',' here.

I had the same problem (
 http://puredata.info/docs/developer/BuildingPdExtended64bitUbuntuIntrepid
 ):

If, like me, you get an error similar to this:

 dpkg-deb: parse error, in file
 /home/dano/Desktop/pd-build/Pd-0.40.3-extended/packages/linux_make/build//DEBIAN/control
near line 8 \package pd-extended: Depends field, syntax error after
reference to package zlib1g make: *** deb Error 2

then there is a comma missing after a dependency. Open the Debian control
file, look through the dependency list on line 8, and add the missing
comma(s) after the referenced package in the error, in this case zlib1g:

 ola,

 remembering a little detail here
on some systems ( actually on ubuntu hardy ),
you need to run pd as root,
permissions on the device are not enough,
the driver can only access the camera
 when you have root identity..

 suerte!

the lighting you use

2009/2/3 bigsw...@cox.net

I did it a few years ago with help from Chris and pix_chromakey

[pix_chroma_key] could do what you need. For higher quality
results you'll have to use several objects and use some
  compositing techniques like explained here:

  http://www.blendedplanet.com/?Freebie_Tutorials:The_Ultimate_Keyer

It's for blender3d and probably overkill for your needs
but you can use some of its basic principles in GEM too.

   - btw has anyone done something like that in pd? I only
used it in blender some time ago.

  cheers,

there are two new pdp modules for cameras
that have been committed 5 days ago or so :
 pdp_v4l2 and pdp_ieee1394 ( in pidip ),
and you've been waiting 3 years
and just look for them now!
in fact, i believe in the surnatural!
but just ask hans the right version,
 i can't tell.

The 0.42 builds should have it included. Those are the builds from trunk
of SVN. You could take the pidip.pd_linux and use it with another
 Pd-extended version if you want.

Re: [PD] camera and wifi for a photo installation

2008-03-16 Thread el jay
what kind of camera is this?... do you already have one? or are open to
sugestions..
i helped do something simlar to this last month during ARCO, we used two
alexis IP cameras.. the proper camera generates video and images accesable
through its ip...
you can place the two cameras on a wifi router.. (ie cam1: 192.168.1.30cam2:
192.168.1.30)
and using some funcions like mencoder or wget you can tell your computer to
retrive images every Xseconds /minutes.. (unless you just want the picture
once)
then the images can be sent to diferent directories. from there PD can
load this images..
and have two seprate channels of images working at the same time!

 just a suggestion..

  I don't really know GEM but i think i'll be forced to enter in it;
which object can manage jpeg picture

 [pix_image]

and how can i get the picture from the cam ???

i don't know. what is a numeric cam? you mentioned, that you want to get
pictures over the wireless network. does this cam have its own ip, when
connected to the network? what kind of server is running on it providing
 the pictures?

  for the network part:

probably it would be better to let a little script do the job
  of getting
the pictures from the cams to the local file system. it could
  download a
picture in a certain intervall. once it the image is local you
  could
constantly read the image with appropriate object of the
  library of your
  choice.

Do you know a tuto to make that kind of stuff

you mean downloading the pictures? i don't know whithout knowing what
kind of cam you are using. i know, that there are some cams, which can
be connected to a network (ethernet or wireless), which have webserver
running and then you easily can grab the picture with a browser by
 entering: http://ip_of_your_cam/name_of_the_file.jpg in the adress
field. if your cam is such a cam, then you could write little script
using the command wget. is that the kind of cam you are using?
