 Anyone experinced similar issues or has an idea how to solve this?

    There are some nice updates to Firmata and Pduino.  This release
    mostly adds extensions to the protocol to support more pin modes
    and their respective messages (Servo, I2C, Shift Registers, etc).
     Here are some specifics:

    - Servo support for StandardFirmata
    - support for using analog pins as digital I/Os for StandardFirmata
    - new message to set the poll rate of StandardFirmata
    - I2C Firmata example (needs Pd implementation)
    - switch back to 57600 for standard bitrate
    - made Firmata.begin(57600) explicit in all examples

    Please test and report and bugs or issues.  We are trying to get
    this included in the upcoming Arduino 0017 release.  Depending on
    the 0017 release schedule, we might be able to squeeze in Shift
    Register/Matrix support too.  Also, just to note, this update
    includes code from (in alphabetical order):

    Ayah Bdeir
    Erik Sjodin
    Hans-Christoph Steiner
    Jeff Hoefs
    Shigeru Kobayashi
    Zach Lieberman

    (I hope I didn't forget anyone, let me know if I did).

 I'm guessing the baudbits has something to do with it. Maybe
 something along the connection between pd and arduino doesn't

   i had always considered to write a couple of ebuilds and emerge pd

 In any case, all frames in your video should have the same size. The

See ./config.log if you want the details of the configuration tests.
If you are satisfied with that configuration, you may go on,
and do make. make install is not needed anymore,
just move your gridflow directory to lib/pd/extra.
If you get stuck, you could contact the author about it,
but first make sure you read doc/install.html.

 I have no idea why it may be faulting. I regularly take pictures out of
 recorded videos, camera streams, or whatever else, by adding an extra
 [#out] with open blahblah.jpg next to the [#out window], and it works.
 Don't forget the close message.

 If it's faulting, get me a report using the Valgrind program, so that I
 can get any idea about the problem you're talking about.

 The files are direct from the camera, hence the format. It would be

 yo, for my part, i am very positive about ubuntu. i still have ubuntu
 dapper installed and i changed to fluxbox, though sometimes i still run
 some gnome applications. all drivers have been running out of the box
 (inlcuding video drivers, wireless and all that stufff); no issues with
 binary firmware of any hardware; getting realtime priority for pd and

 want; i never had the feeling, that it takes too much time to start pd
 (though, i usually load only the libs needed); and i have also only
 512MB RAM.

 for all that, i wouldn't know why to use a distro, where it requires
 much more effort to get things working. this is just the experience i
 had, that doesn't necessarily apply to everyone else.

  i'd recoment you slackware - the latest release (12) now has
  HAL and 2.6.12 kernel ..it didn't have either before for a reason ..

  well .. it's up to you which distro to run .. but some of them aren't
  designed to run on older hardware (such as suse and probably ubuntu)..

  .. also may be it's a good idea to minimize the kernel (just too be sure
  :)

  i'd say - i can set up a dedicated box which would have only necessary
  apps on it and would take the full advantage of the hw .. but it is very
  hard to explain all i would do setting it up.

  try studing more about linux, i think if you feel up for it - you'll get
  to the point when you can sort it out.

Re: [PD] pyext install succeeds

2007-10-01 Thread olsen wolf
jep while crowning patrick as the h.e.r.o. of the day - pyext is
running between the 0 and 1!
with patricks advice: use this version with python 2.4:
http://www.parasitaere-kapazitaeten.net/ext/py/py-0.2.0-pd.tgz
 fela kuti in the back this is what i did:

flext 0.5.0 download from http://www.parasitaere-kapazitaeten.net/ext/ built:
bash grill/flext/build.sh pd gcc
edit buildsys/config-lnx-pd-gcc.txt to point to pd/src:
# where is the PD source package?
# (this should point to the main folder, which has a src subfolder)
PDPATH=/home/olsen/pd/pd-0.39-2

###

# prefix for flext installation
# headers are in $(FLEXTPREFIX)/include/flext
# libraries are in $(FLEXTPREFIX)/lib
# build system is in $(FLEXTPREFIX)/lib/flext

FLEXTPREFIX=/usr/local

###

# where should the external be built?
OUTPATH=pd-linux

# where should the external be installed?
INSTPATH=/usr/local/lib/pd/extra

###

# user defined compiler flags
# (check if they match your system!)
UFLAGS=-msse -mfpmath=sse -ffast-math

# user defined optimization flags
# (check if they match your system!)
OFLAGS=-O3
# optimizations for Pentium 4
OFLAGS+=-march=pentium4

then:
bash grill/flext/build.sh pd gcc
bash grill/flext/build.sh pd gcc install
ldconfig -v | grep flext (you should see libflext)
if no libflext shows up
vim /etc/ld.so.conf
 add /usr/local/lib

vim /etc/ld.so.conf.d/i486-linux-gnu
 add /usr/local/lib
then

cd grill/py
sh ../flext/build.sh pd gcc
edit config.txt for telling py/ext to use python 2.4:
# what is the base prefix of the Python installation?
PYTHONPREFIX=/usr

# which Python version do you want to compile against?
PYTHONVERSION=2.4

sh ../flext/build.sh pd gcc
sh ../flext/build.sh pd gcc install

this works on ubuntu 7.04
python2.4-dev package should be onboard

olsen

Re: [PD] multiple platform usb video capture cards (again)

2007-09-05 Thread olsen wolf
Hi emanuel
interesting issue!
about 1/2 year ago i had some not really succesfull experimentation
goin with the
Pinnacle PCTV USB2 as it uses a bt878 chip and i could borrow it from
a friend. the driver was initialized but i only got a black screen
(using camstream) - due to my research the driver was broken

win usb - only bw picture
all this on a ubuntu feisty machine
remembering the win usb worked 3-4 jears ago on a debian desktop.
i've a pci card with Brooktree (Bt878) chipsets running (also
connexant chipsets should work) they're cheap ~80$ but i gues you're
looking for a usb version?!

olsen

 hi,

 i'm trying to find a usb capture card to capture analog signal from a

 the card shoudn't cost more than 300€.

 i have a intel mac mini for the installation and because pdp more or
 less requires linux, i'm looking for a usb capture card that supports
 linux osx drivers. because of my research untli now i think it's
 quite unlikely to find somthing like that outside there, so i was hoping

 - could anybody tell me some of his experience with usb video capture
 cards for video tracking?
 - did anyone run the pinacle studio movie box on pd/linux?
 - does anyone know of a capture card that supports win/linux/osx
 drivers?

 i found some threads about capture cards in the archive but none of
 them had a hardware advice in this price range.

 thank you for your help in advance,
