Im writing to report this error that i get trying to open a patch i
built using pd extended 0.42.5 in Windows 7
As soon as i open the patch i get this error

... couldn't create
i dont know why, since its not an abstraction but a

[knob] is not part of pd-vanilla. You could choose [vsl] or [hsl] instead.

Try resetting your preferences to the defaults, then it should load.
You can now do that in the Preferences panel, I think its under the File
or Edit menu in Windows.
