Re: [PD] resonator: Making resonances with Pure Data
Hi Resonances for a string or tube are possible with delay_fbf~ and stereo_drift~ units from metastudio (see below). The trick is to use the pitch setting for the delays, or [delpitch $1( if you are setting the pitch externally. Also, depending on whether the tube is open at both ends or stopped at one end, you can set the feedback to positive or negative respectively. The impulse (e.g. noise bursts for wind instrument simulation) is up to the user to implement. This is a good idea for a help-patch though. best, Ed Metastudio 3 for Pure Data - Free download at: http://sharktracks.co.uk/puredata From: hghoyer hgho...@googlemail.com To: pd-list pd-list@iem.at Sent: Fri, 30 July, 2010 13:02:59 Subject: [PD] resonator: Making resonances with Pure Data Hi, I am looking for a way to simulate resonances in a tube. Call me a charlatan if you like, but that sounds like that kind of thing which might be more fun to do acoustically. You can get drain piping from most building suppliers, put a mic at one end, talk down the other. Or you could find a way to mount it with a small speaker at one end too, try different lengths of pipe, repeat the sound, re recording each time, using pd to control the sound and the possibilities are endless. 'course with more mics and different lengths of pipe, that's a really nice installation going on. Re: [PD] resonator: Making resonances with Pure Data
Or.. get that set up and capture an impulse and build yourself a convolver in PD. (and if you DO manage to get a reletively economical convolver built LET ME KNOW) Cody Loyd By the way, this is the first time that i have ever replied to something on a mailing list... so if i messed up somehow LET ME KNOW! Search the archive for karplus-strong or resonant comb filter. I posted at least one usable patch under the second topic... Best!
