I am working on a expanded hurdy-gurdy for a musician from around here.
The rotation of the handle controls the speed of a video. It works ok on
my windows machine, but I can't get it to run on the Mac it's supposed
to run on eventually.

[munger~] by PeRColate. The problem is the only link I know with
compiled versions of it for pd-extended does not contain an OS X

Look for disis_munger~ found on L2Ork's software page (requires flext),
or simply install pd-l2ork which comes with disis_munger~ included.
