Just FYI for the curious - The formation is called the "artist's drive"
and represents relatively recent deposits in geologic time (Cenozoic)
there is a view at ARches that is similar in texture and color but has a
different formation name that begins with "C" I think.

I don't mind the noise level here. It's no more noticeable than grain on tri-x.
If I wasn't just playing, I would have shot at ISO 3200. Had enough light for
that but was more interested in seeing the high ISO performan
1. Phoenix 500/8 mirror lens. Includes Pentax and Nikon T mounts. $50
2. ME Super with A50/1.7. The lens has that loose spring issue so it will
require some work. Optics and other mechanics are fine. $40.
3. Lots of b&w & other filters, all new, at pretty good prices.

After realizing I would get one eventually anyway, I just ordered one today
at a relatively close-by brick and mortar shop.
Will pick it up on monday...
