I am not sure which is more impressive. The bear shot, the caribou shot, or the
fact that you hiked, in the bush, for several hours with a camera body on a big
mother 600/4.0 lens on a big mother tripod. All three are remarkable! And the
time spent was obviously well worth it.

I forgot to mention there is some slight barrel distortion at the 24mm end
of the zoom
that is not noticable in my 24mm pentax primes.

I've gotten pretty good results with the 1.7x AF adapter, (not exactly a
TC but it functions as such), with various zoom lenses. It does work
better with primes, but at most screen sizes and reasonable print sizes,
it gives better results with primes. On the other hand the prime I use
it with

My Sigma 1.4x (an older, pre-EX model) just passes the actual focal
