we had sighted lesser flamingoes. could not get a good shot since they
were very far, at an unapproachable (shallow) part of the lake.

Thanks, Subash. I've settled on this
being a young Eagle rather than a
Hawk. Seems the popular choice.
Your kind words are always much
appreciated!

Thanks, Cotty. That is an interesting perspective, and just the sort of
thing I was seeking.
On this side of the pond, we don't know enough about the issues or the
personalities to make any sense of what's happening. The videos of
demonstrations in the streets certainly make it clear that
We are on a ship, northbound along the Peruvian/Ecuadorian coast. Pretty much
confined to quarters.
Meg wasn’t feeling well, went to see the ship’s Med staff. Good news, they gave
her good meds and advice. Bad news, they said that with her fever she is
probably infectious and is in “isolation.”
Well Stan, I've become convinced
is not a Hawk, but a two year old
imm Eagle.
So you see, I'm in no position to
advise. :)

A couple nights ago I had a very nice dinner at a Basque restaurant in San Juan
Bautista. Unfortunately I wasn’t able (didn’t even try) to get photos of the
barn owls flying around, but I did get a couple of the mission.
No handy book with me. But I guess some form of Sea Eagle...
Nice looking ruffian!

I agree with Ralf. I’m for a long extension to give everyone a chance to take a
deep breath and reconsider their priorities. I’m planning on Salisbury &
Shaftesbury this October to visit Meg’s relatives, the plan is to head over
from Paris by train. If the trains are still running...

It simply has to. We'll be in Dunkirk over Easter and we'll have to come
over because we're running low on tinned Asda Chicken Tikka and
HMMM... May I sayI doubt it.??
I've seen a number of imm Eagles
and this guy simply doesn't fit.
Thanks for remarks however, Larry.

Nice shot. I don’t know what it is, but Larry’s juvenile bald eagle sounds
reasonable.

This AM at the Sacramento National Wild Life Refuge.
As is often the case, I can't locate a match in my bird Field Guide..DUH!!
Large hawk. Atop a tallish remnant of a tree beside the visitor auto trail.
Not a substitute for an Eagle, but it's close!

Hey, it's life Jim, but not as we know it :-)
I think what most people (Brits included) fail to understand is that what we
are seeing is the parliamentary process. It's our democracy in action. You
might think it's broken - I know a lot of people do - but actually it's not.
The thing that

This isn't politics anymore. It's some kind of surreal comedy to an
extent that even the Belgians are green with envy.

There is, Bill, and I'm sorry if I offended you or others. This was
intended as a humorous post, rather than a political one, as I had hoped my
reference to two of the best Brit Coms would have indicated.
I do, however really empathize with what folks in the UK are going through
right now.
I thought their was an agreement regarding politics on this forum.

I have been trying to follow your latest reality TV show.
Who is running all of this -- Francis Urquhart or Sir Humphrey Appleby?
You still have not reached the American level of political theater, but you
are approaching it.
My heart goes out to you all. It will, of course, sort itself out
