First up - recently there was a discussion of the DA50 f/1.8, how good it was and etc. It prompted me to check it out on the K-1. Although it's supposed to be an APS-C (crop) lens, I can't see any vignetting. I double checked to make sure my K-1 is NOT set to automatically switch to crop mode when it detects a DA lens.

This image is a throw-away, taken only for the four light corners where vignetting would be obvious. I didn't think to check it until a few minutes ago, but the DA50 f/1.8 doesn't appear to vignette at f/22 either. Won't post that image because it's just a boring blank piece of sheet-rock wall in my kitchen.

Second - Comet Wirtanen. I still can't see it with the naked (assisted by glasses) eye or pick it out with binoculars, but the sky cleared off last night & I thought of a place out of the city where I might find dark (enough) skies.*

I had an idea it would be near the Pleiades, so I set the camera on the tripod and centered up the Pleiades in Live View. I expected it to be slightly south, but turned out to be slightly north. Look for a tiny, green, fuzzy dot in the center of the frame.

This is maybe the third or fourth shot after I finally remembered to pre-focus at infinity (took the camera off the tripod and auto-focused on the Moon).

And finally - the one photo I took of last week's snow in Raleigh; 4:00am & I just pushed the screen door open long enough to shoot one handed before going back to bed.
