Yes, tripod all the way, and single AF mode. I rarely if ever use countinuious.
The shots at about 60 degrees are more prodaunced than those at 45.

Then back to Pentax I guess. Too bad you can't send it to Colorado.
They seem to know what they're doing. (He said, hoping his K10D comes
back working better than before:-).

Hi,
I tried the utility to enable the debug menu. and it seems to work fine.
Now does anyone have any info on the correct usage of the debug menu
especially wrt af correction.

LOL.
Tried some more tests witht he focus chart.
Lowe angle but still close to the 45 degrees suggested.
DA50 seems about 6mm BF, and A 50 is about 2mm, not as bad as i thought.,
However at a higher angle, the DA50 is about 15mm and the A was around 8mm.
I'll send in both lenses and camera,
You used a tripod I assume? And you were shooting in autofocus mode
(not continuous)? The backfocus should have been more pronounced at
the lower angle if the test was accurate.

Rick, i'm not the type of fix it guy, that would try something like
that, at least with out some one being there that has done it, to help
me.
I agree with Paul, i'm glad i did not, as it seems to be 1 problem and
maybe 2 problems here.
I have been a bit busy with extra bus work this week, but

Some K10D cameras, apparently the early ones, do require adjustment
to be able to use autofocus with USM lenses. But I'd rather let
Pentax do it.

You know, Dave... If you had tried the hacked firmware
two months ago, you would either have a
properly-focusing K10D or you would have =known= that
it has a mirror box problem, and gotten it fixed long
since. Of course, you would have missed all the
excitement of dealing with Pentax Canada all
I think Dave might have been in even deeper shit if he had tried the
hacked firmware. He has reported both autofocus and manual focus
problems. They are unrelated problems. He needs professional help. He
may not be getting it from Pentax Canada, but messing around with the
hacked firmware
