Thanks Boris. The height is just right for me so that I can view it
without scrolling, on my macbook. Maybe I will have to go to the
small/large method... but that won't be for a while.

Interesting idea, well captured, but the overall image just isn't
gripping enough. It might be better bigger.

It is big enough and bright enough for me. I think there is too much
sky that has nothing in it. So I would crop it a bit differently.
Take most of it off and go for a more square shot. With that kind of
crop, I think it would be a pretty good photo.

Thanks Bill, Jack, Godders, Rick Markus, PJ and Bruce for your input.
Several of you commented that it is rather flat. I actually did do
that on purpose because, Rick you are correct, I was wanting it to be
moody and dreary. However, I guess I went too far :) Here is a
different take on it:
I think that's definitely a stronger photo. The square crop suits it
well, the larger size and tonal edits make it more than the prior
rendering. Good job!

Yes, this looks much better - I don't think you lost the feel you were
trying to convey.

I'm going to be a contrary old cuss and say that I
liked the original better! With this crop, the
building distracts from the mood.

Thanks. This is actually the first crop I tried, but I decided that I
wanted more sky and water. I do like the square, but I find myself
looking up at the sky, and there is nothing there. Maybe I will have
to print them and then we will see... Thanks for your input.

Thanks Bruce for your response, that is encouraging to me as I learn.
I think my pictures sometimes lack a 'soul', so what I have been
trying to do lately is really think about the feeling I want to
capture instead of snapping away and then trying to clean up a mess
later.

Thanks Marnie,
I one thing I struggled with in this was the contrast, I felt that too
much gave it too much 'oomph' to let it still be moody, and I guess
that too much 'do nothing sky' makes it just blah. Thanks for your
input.

I am not sure which crop I prefer, I like the square, but I keep
trying to look to the sky. And yes the house is a fair bit more
noticeable, although I think the increased contrast is definatly
better. Thanks for your input contrary or otherwise :)

Does nothing
Russell, I think you would be hard pressed to greatly change the
existing image impression. Maybe a bit of cropping of the top, cloning
out the structure peeking through the foliage on the right and giving
it more definition with a contrast/saturation bump and, maybe, a touch
of sharpening(???).
