The E1's are great bodies, but the Oly kit lenses aren't any better than anyone else's. The advantage of Pentax bodies (we use them here at W&L) is the low cost and quality of the used prime lenses, especially the 50's. Of course, our film course uses only Pentax. The digital course uses whateve

The kit lenses /are/ a bit flimsy, on the other hand they're more robust than the kit lenses from Canon and Nikon, though that's not saying much, and from all accounts much better optically to boot. I wouldn't give them to kids who have no particular attachment to them as they will do what kid

Strange. I've dropped K-x once and completely destroyed my beloved A50/1.7 lens, and my cat has knocked it off the top of a dresser about 4 feet high once, directly onto the mounted M 50/2 and the camera has come out better than the lenses both times. I guess I can feel a little lucky now that
