Morning, Paul.
That setting can be something slower
of course, and has been, but that's
where I am now. A pro friend promotes an even higher speed. I
don't choose to assume the higher
speed is shortening shutter life, thus
the setting...for now.
Thanks for commenting, Paul.

Nice scene, but why a 3200 shutter? Are you hand holding? Even with just a
monopod 1/1000th would be more than adequate.

Thanks, Alan.
A smaller aperture to extend DOF
would call for a greater ISO which
is set at an auto limit of 1250 which
I consider comfortable.
The snow impression is enough for
me in this case. I, also, have a 3200
shutter setting when shooting wild "life" thus requiring help from the
aperture to
Jack, a lot of my shots in Kruger are at distance. I find the solution
is to go for a greater DOF and make the intended subject part of a
scenic. In your case, if the mountains had been in focus, it would
probably have worked quite well. I remember seeing a shot of a canyon
entitled "Bird"
Nice catch

Went to Sacramento Wildlife Refuge yesterday. Actually prox 80 miles north of
Sacramento and 50+ from
our home.
Left all of the left side of the shot partially to keep all of what I could of
the snow frosted Coast range background.
This eagle was easily 200 yards from me and is pulled up
