That matches the info in the Pentax patent on data-imprinting, although that states it
is actualy at REwinding, not during film-advance between shots ...

Summary:

- exposure data is saved in a non-volatile memory at shutter-release time
  This memory collects info on ALL frames for a film

- At rewind time, this info is printed BETWEEN the sprocket holes while rewinding
  using 4 characters in a 5x7 dot matrix

I would think this scenario makes the mid-roll-change business even more complicated!

An advantage is that no time is wasted during exposure and film-advance.
