lenses on a Pentax body. Unit has a compensating lens inside to allow for
infinity focus. $30 is their price on it.

It certainly sounds intriguing. What's the used market like on F-mount
lenses? Are there lots of them and can any good ones be had relatively
cheap?

I have one of those for mounting Pentax glass on my Sony A850. Truly
execrable
Nikon makes some nice crisp lenses, and the compensating lens will turn
them into wilted mush...
