Could be. This is an infinity-corrected objective, so it is designed to
leave the optical corrections to other parts of the optical path.

I tried it in front of a FA* 200/4 macro on the K-5, which was not a
good idea. The 645FA 200/4 is a lot better. There's still a fair bit of
odd colour rendition in the OOF areas, but the stacking eliminates most
of that.

Good question, Mark. Beetle's life size is 3-4 mm and image chip is 44 mm. The
posted pic is uncropped. Eyeballing it, I'd say the beetle's image reach across
about two thirds of the frame, like 30 mm or thereabouts. So a magnification
between 8 and 10x somewhere?

Nice photo but as noted, a destructive beetle! Good practice nonetheless.

It's a Japanese Beetle:

Another alien species and quite a destructive one apparently.

Uninspired title.

Have no idea what type of beetle this is - how many million species of
beetles are there? He's about twice the size of a lady bug. I rather
liked the iridescence (which I suspect would be spectacular in the
sun) and the little white tufts on his sides:

Any help on species would be appreciated.
