I recently purchased this scanner and have been really pleased with it.

It is hooked up to my Beige G3/OS 9.2/384MB through a PCI USB card and 4
port mini USB hub. I have scanned both color and B&W. For B&W I will
usually scan in at 36 dpi as a color image. This gives me that Sepia
toning. If that toning does not work on the photo then it comes in just
fine as Grayscale. I use Photoshop 6 with it so I really haven't taken the
time to see how it works with the built in software. If you don't have
photoshop you may still want to look into something like Photoshop Elements
which has also worked.

As for printing, I have an HP 932c and have been able to print 8x10's that I
have been quite impressed with. As a side note, I picked up some of
Ilford's Classic Pearl Paper last week and it worked wonderfully on both 5x7
and 8x10 prints.

I've used it with a limited number of slides and have had some difficulty
but only because the slides were very dirty - not the scanner.

Color correction is usually needed on the color photos but that is easily
enough done (usually) in photoshop.

I just got a book on Photoshop Restoration that has been a big help. If
your interested I can get the exact title - I just can't remember the full
title of the author right now - just let me know.

Overall, I really think it is a bargain and you can find it on the Costco
website for $149.

Good luck!

Delano
