This car is constructed from pieces of 62 other cars, built between the
early 30's and the mid-60's.

Well pictured. I recognise Triumph Herald series bonnet catches and
have seen the tail lights on some American behemoth but the rest of it

Thanks, Mike.

He stopped counting cars when they got newer then 1967. There's
late-60's Holden in the rear bumper bar, Volkswagen Taureg somewhere
else, and the steering wheel is out of a Fokker aircraft...!

GESO - Airborne 8

2010-08-09 Thread Pete McIntosh
Yay! Finally got time to get out and use my camera and new flash
(AF360FGZ), the latter a birthday present from my son. He's a recent
Pentax convert too, having recently purchased one of those Russian 16mm
lenses for his K100D Super. Anyway, enough of that...

Went in to Motor-Ex a couple of weeks ago. Motor-Ex is an annual
hot-rod show held at Sydney's Olympic Park. There's always a good
combination of traditional rods and later custom beat-boxes, as well as
custom bikes and vintage cars. Doesn't matter what you are looking at,
creativity and workmanship is always first-class.

My neighbour, Bluey - remember him?
http://picasaweb.google.com/petergly/OnePhoto#5404253613717348338 - is
heavily involved in the local hot rod scene, and has been for many, many
years.  His daily driver is a VW beetle with a 302 CU V8 in the FRONT;
500,000 km at last count. But his latest creation is astounding - it's
here -
http://picasaweb.google.com/petergly/Airborne8?authkey=Gv1sRgCJCb383H2f__Tg#.

This car is constructed from pieces of 62 other cars, built between the
early 30's and the mid-60's. The design is wholly his own, the
construction a 7-year exercise involving a small band of friends (and a
couple of neighbours). The Airborne 8 was unveiled at Motor-Ex to a
very appreciative crowd.

All taken with my trusty ist-DL, a Pentax DA II 18-55mm and the new
AF360FGZ (used in some, not all). Enjoy!

Comments, etc most welcome.

Regards,

Pete Mac in western Sydney, now going back to the never-ending
renovations...

Thanks, Ecke. Unfortunately the show ran for just 3 days. However the
car lives 4 doors from me, and I'll be back soon once the last bits and
pieces are sorted. Stay tuned!

Thanks, Rick. As is usual with Bluey, that scar has a story - that's
where the tree trunk was lying when he found the original wreck for the
cabin. He decided to leave a momento of it, rather than fill it in...
