It shouldn't work if the lens thread is metallic and made of a similar
metal (as the lens will also contract)
It might work if it's non-metalic.

Yes, I've used this gadget successfully to remove even thin polarizers
from the DA 14. For some reason, that is the lens that filters stick to.
I've since old on the DA 14, and will use the DA 15

well, i had some luck with polarizerthis way: I had to use tweezers to
prevent the filter from rotation (nothing special about tweezers,
almost anything would work).
not sure if it will work with ultra thin one.
