Yes, I see the array of images and note they're identified as "birch."
Guess I can only offer another result of my asking Google to identify the
distinction between them.
"Birch trees and aspen trees have a similar appearance, but possess significant
differences,
specifically in their leaves, buds, bark and abilities to tolerate extreme
climates.
Additionally, while aspen trees are found across the country, birch trees are
primarily found
only in the eastern United States and areas of Canada.
The most visible difference between the trees is the bark. Aspen trees have
white bark
while birch back can be gray, grayish white, red or black.
Additionally, horizontal markings mar the surface of the birch trees while
aspen typically
only show knots or scars."

is indeed very white, similar to birch.
Birch is also white. And I grew up with birches surrounding me. :-)
European/Eurasian aspen is greyish (with a greenish tint).
