I've only done it once. Not because I didn't want my spouse to know, but
because it was coming by UPS and UPS only deliver in office hours.

I don't think it matters. Pentax spouses are smarter than that. Once you start
playing w/ your new toy, the spouse will find out. Witness the Beard family:

Gave me an excuse to buy the 24-90 as a replacement for my camera ;-)
(Of course the thought never entered my head when I bought him the MZ-5n in
 the first place)

Of course, good things can happen when the spouse confiscates your toy... you
get yourself an even better toy!

How do you carry a Pentax on a non-shooting project basis?

I have each camera in a little neoprene sleeve from Zing, and each lens
has its own Zing pouch. That way I can put them in whatever bag I want
and they're protected.

For shooting, I have an ordinary backpack that I stuff all my gear in.
When I get to a shoot, I can loop each lens pouch over my belt for easy
access.

In a rucksack, in an ever ready case so it doesn't get scratched by any of

Well, I'm married. But truth be told, the term Pentax wife sounds to

football widow. Although I guess then such a person would be a Pentax

In that case, I guess my husband is a Pentax widower, except that he

The only thing I can say is that in my mind it was a play of words
concerning cameras, and that the full meaning of my words in English
may simply not have been as clear to me as they are to an English
speaking person.

Sorry all, I'll try to refrain from anymore jokes along the same
lines inn the future.

My previous reply appears completely blank in my reader. Just in case
and to make sure I resend it (shortening the subject line, if that had
anything to do with it):

My apologies to everyone on the list if my message appeared the way
Mr. Poirier describes it.

What's a 13-year-old girl got to do with anything, John?

Oh, I guess you're objecting to the language? I agree. This is surely
a family newsgroup, and the participants ought not swear.
Or, for that matter, talk politics and firearms and other such
disgusting things.

Surely you're not letting her read these list messages? Are you?

Yeah, I agree with you, but she would also most likely be very old,
mostly stuck at the mirror all day, dented, losing her paint, need
constant cleaning an lubrication, cost you huge medical bills, and
the only way to make her work is by screwing or mounting her with a
  bayonet

Regarding my joke on Pentax cameras regarded as a wife, there is
this one thing I'd like to point out.
I referred to a bayonet as in the K-mount. I had no intention of
evoking any imagery where this tool would be used in the way it is
 being used as a weapon.
In case my wording actually brought such an imagery to mind, I am
 doubly very, very sorry.

  John Poirier
  Father of a 13-year-old girl.

What's a 13-year-old girl got to do with anything, John?

Actually, as her father I think she has quite a bit to do with me. As a
young woman she is growing up in a world where violence against women is
widespread. I think that has quite a bit to do with all of us.

As a father and as a responsible adult it is my duty to object strongly to
any behaviour that promotes or condones violence against women.

In mentioning that I have a 13-year-old daughter, I was providing context
for my remarks.

I have read Lasse's explanation and accepted it. No problem. However, I do
find the tone of your remarks offensive.

Oddly enough, we don't censor our daughter's reading, although we do monitor
and provide guidance. She encounters far worse language in the school yard
every day. Politics is a daily topic of discussion in our household. Our
daughter is also rather well-informed on the issues surrounding firearms.

Sorry to disappoint you.

(Incidentally, I'm not one of those small-l liberals you dumped on in
another thread. I am a big-L Leftist, and never more proud of it than when
I see drivel of the sort you've been spouting.)

I suspect you find a LOT of stuff offensive.
Your priorities are a bit odd.
Not with respect to your daughter, I respect that, but your
perspective is off kilter!
