Probably the new Pentax APS-C will be some sort of limited edition
flagship with improved viewfinder and grip, but lacking features as
flippy screen and GPS.
Doesn't look to be a workhorse for nature photography as the K-1.

In my world, the price drops on camera bodies that are a couple of years
old. Thats why people on forums often say they will wait for the price to
come down prior to buying.
I'm
In my opinion probably not more expensive than the XT-4 which is $1.6k.

Yes I do. I like every bit of it.
The user interface is a bit complicated. The basics are the same old Pentax
style. Battery life is ok, I got a few Ansmann replacements from amazon for
15 euro and they are the same as the original. Problem solved.

Also, it looks like a new flagship level APS-C body is just
six of one, half dozen of the other.

Hi
I do believe I need to clarify something first. I born without thumbs

I don't think that the style of the Df influenced the style of the KP as
much as the questions of how do we make the camera appear smaller, (ah

Hum, well now where do we put that pesky front wheel? Ah vertically on

I don't think Ricoh mistakes the Df for a sales leader either.
But, if you compare the "style" of the KP in relation to the rest of the
Pentax line of DSLRs and then compare the "style" of the Df in relation
to the rest of Nikon's line-up, I think there are some similarities.

Looking at the top plates of both cameras dispels all illusions. The
Pentax isn't a retro design aping an old film camera, it's a digital
camera with one design touch from the film era. The Nikon is a serial

I don't think so, the only thing retro about the KP is the shape of the
"pentaprism" housing, and that's not particularly retro based on
physics. I doubt even Ricoh, (ex Pentax), marketing could mistake the
Nikon Df as a top sales leader.

I think this may be the more meaningful comparison:
I like the principle of 3 alternative grips.
Why? Because feel & fit is how I've recommended cameras to many people.
That is, hold it and see how it works in your hand.
I'm a little confused about the Fx1, Fx2, Fx3.
Or am I too out of touch with the new tech for those and the C1, C2, C3,

The articulated screen on the K-1 is better. That looks to be a step

What's interesting and a bit strange is the loss of AF-C mode, - at least
from the focus mode switch. (It might be hidden in the menues, - but based

So it's an APS-C camera with a K-1 control layout. Good idea.

I haven't given up hope but, like those who moved on to other brands
because the Pentax full frame took so
Most "classic" Pentax lens optics show serious fringing on DSLRs. The new
lenses are far better. Some primes would be fun, but zoom technology has
advanced to the point where developing primes is somewhat impractical. I
suspect that the D FA 150-450 is superior to any 300 or 400 mm prime Pentax

That's because the k-1 was in development for far longer than the k-3.
To be perfectly honest the k-3's USB speed is hardly much faster than
USB2 anyways.
