You are absolutely correct, and I am guilty of a major brainfart. I confused you with JCO. Jostein Den 16. august 2018 00.32.53 CEST, skrev jtainter : >Hmmm. Re: Threading?
Back when I used to get PDML using the digests I was told it broke threading. But I don't think it arbitrarily inserted my replies into unrelated threads. On 8/15/2018 18:32, jtainter wrote: Hmmm. It is not a valid way of starting new threads because the message with the changed subject and all replies to it remain part of the original thread. Email headers contain a variety of information, and changing the subject field does not change the references field upon which threading and archiving depend. The only way to start a new thread is to write an entirely new message with the new subject (unless one is an IT geek who fully understands headers and how to edit them to fool the mailing list software, and even for an IT geek it is easier to just create a new message). As far as the email software is concerned changing the subject affects nothing because the software does not parse the subject field to determine threading, it parses the references field to determine threading. It's a known issue between Yahoo & Gmail. Yahoo broke something to do with mailing lists. Gmail can't cope. You can create a filter in Gmail to tell it not to send emails to SPAM. Create a new contact in Gmail for johnsessoms at yahoo dot com Then go into Gmail settings and create a filter from the new contact and select "Never send it to Spam". https://www.jotform.com/help/404-How-to-Prevent-Emails-from-Landing-in-Gmail-s-Spam-Folder I guess someone will have to reply to and quote this message in its entirety before Dan & Subash can see it. -- Science - Questions we may never find answers for. That's because you use Gmail & I'm having to use Yahoo. There's a known issue with Yahoo and Gmail not playing nice. Mostly Yahoo's fault, but Gmail is not entirely blameless.
