wrote to the author of raw therapee and just heard from him. looks
like the linux version should be out in 7-10 days' time...
btw, he is also on slackware and currently getting it to compile it on
the just released slack 11.

with it yet but at least it's 16 bit,
unlike the Gimp which is only an 8 bit workflow most of the way.

i've compiled cinepaint a while back, about a year ago but not
recently but i think they are in the process of changing
