hi don,

wrote to the author of raw therapee and just heard from him. looks
like the linux version should be out in 7-10 days' time...

btw, he is also on slackware and currently getting it to compile it on
the just released slack 11.

I haven't used the WinDoze version yet but it sounds quite capable
compared the the very basic ufraw.

anybody here using UFRaw on linux? i use only linux at home (currently

converter plugin. how does UFRaw compare with the Adobe Raw plugin?

I've only used UFRaw once on a friend's system, but it impressed me
as being 1/10 the features and sophistication of Camera Raw. Sorry to
say that, but that's exactly the impression I got.

Gotta agree with Godfrey here. If you want good RAW conversion
capability on Linux, Bibble seems the only option.

CinePaint is another editor worth investigating for Linux.
I haven't quite come to terms with it yet but at least it's 16 bit,
unlike the Gimp which is only an 8 bit workflow most of the way.

hi don,

thanks for the link. hope the linux version is out soon. i personally
wouldn't want to create a partition and install windows, just to have
a good raw converter... :)

i've compiled cinepaint a while back, about a year ago but not
recently but i think they are in the process of changing from gtk to
fltk or something...i'll give it a look again.
