Re: a couple more (questions)
hi don, wrote to the author of raw therapee and just heard from him. looks like the linux version should be out in 7-10 days' time... btw, he is also on slackware and currently getting it to compile it on the just released slack 11. regards, subash On 10/3/06, Don Sanderson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hopefully this will come out soon (for Linux) and even the odds a bit: http://www.rawtherapee.com I haven't used the WinDoze version yet but it sounds quite capable compared the the very basic ufraw. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net

I've only used UFRaw once on a friend's system, but it impressed me as being 1/10 the features and sophistication of Camera Raw. Sorry to say that, but that's exactly the impression I got. RE: a couple more (questions)
Hopefully this will come out soon (for Linux) and even the odds a bit: http://www.rawtherapee.com I haven't used the WinDoze version yet but it sounds quite capable compared the the very basic ufraw. CinePaint is another editor worth investigating for Linux. I haven't quite come to terms with it yet but at least it's 16 bit, unlike the Gimp which is only an 8 bit workflow most of the way. thanks guys, at least i know where things stand. otoh, ufraw is being 'constantly' developed so i guess one never knows :) regards, subash On 10/2/06, Godfrey DiGiorgi [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I've only used UFRaw once on a friend's system, but it impressed me as being 1/10 the features and sophistication of Camera Raw. Re: a couple more (questions)
hi don, thanks for the link. hope the linux version is out soon. i personally wouldn't want to create a partition and install windows, just to have a good raw converter... :) i've compiled cinepaint a while back, about a year ago but not recently but i think they are in the process of changing from gtk to fltk or something...i'll give it a look again. regards, subash On 10/3/06, Don Sanderson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hopefully this will come out soon (for Linux) and even the odds a bit: http://www.rawtherapee.com I haven't used the WinDoze version yet but it sounds quite capable compared the the very basic ufraw.
