I've had the Nova for some time. The one big disadvantage is that one
tends to put too much in it. As (at the time) it was not possible to
put other than a shoulder strap on it, I bought something smaller.
Next, the (silverback model) Phototrekker

I was once caught in a thunderstorm that soaked me comprehensively. It
was so bad, I had to lend my girlfriend my photovest as her clothing had
become completely transparent. Actually, she _insisted_ that I lend her
the vest. The gear in the Nova was bone dry after about 20 minutes
downpour. Quick access can have disadvantages.

Those are both quite large and somewhat boxy bags ... I saw the
D400AW at the shop and concluded that it was more than I needed or
wanted. They didn't have the Nova 5 in stock so I couldn't do a
direct comparison. They differ in their layout by a variety of
subtleties. For me, I'd have to have both of them in front of me with
the gear I wanted to carry to test in them before making a decision.

(Had the same problem myself ... I'm looking for a larger working bag
than what I have right now that will be suitable for a variety of my
gear. I ended up ordering the Crumpler 6 and 7 Million Dollar Home
models and the Lowepro Stealth Reporter D200 and D300 AW models,
after confirming with the vendor that it would be all right to choose
one of the four and return the other three. I expect them to arrive
about April 9th. Right now, the Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home is my
front runner as it seems less boxy and just as spacious compared to
the D300AW, but I reserve judgement for when it arrives... !)

Hello Frits,

Only experience with the Nova 5. I am on my third one over the years.
It is a good bag - especially for the price. It has enough room to
hold quite a bit of gear, but isn't so unwieldy to carry. If the
dimensions fit your needs, I can recommend it.

I don't know how much gear you carrying, but I can get 2 MZS with grip
or 1 K10, a 28, a 50, the 360 flash and either a 100 macro or a 28 to
105, plus other small bits of crap with I can never seem to get rid of
in a 300AW
