Hi List, Last week I previewed our new initiative in artificial intelligence based on (our interpretion of) a Peircean mindset using the Three Categories for knowledge representation. We have now announced our venture, Cognonto [1]. List members are likely most interested, if at all, in the upper ontology [2] that attempts to capture this mindset. I found the mindset of potentials-particulars-generals (and many nuances thereof) that informed our approach to organizing this structure to be really useful. Categorization and structural issues I had seen in knowledge graphs (ontologies) in the past could now be worked out. Since none of this has ever been the subject of academic treatment of Peirce, other than shards of glass in the sand, I'm sure there is much here that is silly, naive or stupid. We are open to and will revise this upper ontology as appropriate. Nonetheless, the mindset is powerful . . . . If you really want to delve into the details of the upper
ontology, you will need to load it into an ontology editor, such
as Protégé [3]. This upper ontology premised on
Peirce is named the KBpedia Knowledge Ontology (KKO), and
is open source [4]. The kko.n3 file is what you would load into
