Eric asked whether there is

>any other work seeking to measure the extent/growth of
>decommodification in other countries? (Alternatively, is
>there any other work that measures the size/growth of the
>"social wage" in countries outside the United States?)

Here are the contents of the International Journal of Political Economy,
vol 22, no 3 (Fall 1992)
P Giussani Value of Labor Power and the Wage
P Bartelheimer and H Wolf The Income of Wage Earners is Declining:On the
Influence of State Activity on Total Wage Eaners' Income and Its
Redistributive Effect
Diego Guerrero Labor, Capital and State Redistribution:The Evolution of Net
Taxes in Spain (1970-1987)
G Carchedi On the Use of National Accounts in Value Analysis: Theoretical
Issues and Conceptual Clarifications.

I have been told by someone who really understands this sort of analysis
that Guerrero's analysis is brilliant. By the way, I thought Shaikh and
Tonak's essay on the social wage in *The Imperiled Economy* was one of the
most illuminating pieces of economic analysis I have read. Did Bowles or
Gintis ever write a reply?
