One of the editors of that book from Verso is a member of
the League of Revolutionaries for a new America (formerly the
Communist Labor Party). I can dig up his e-mail addy if you wish
to take up these issues further. In the meantime visit the LRNA
website. And read some communist beat poetry from one of their
cadre, San francisco's Jack Hirschman.

>I found a collection called Cutting Edge: Technology, Information,
>Capitalism and Social Revolution, edited by Davis, Hirschl and
Stack (Verso
>1997) to be very useful on the questions you ask. The open
question in my
>mind is the nature of surplus value production on a global basis
today:
>does the emergence of companies like Intel, Msft, Oracle, etc.
on the "high
>end" add sufficient surplus value to keep the system profitable
and growing
>or does it require supplmentation by sweatshop labor on the
"low end"?
