Amongst other things, I released a more robust version of DB::Color 
(http://search.cpan.org/dist/DB-Color/). It provides syntax highlighting when 
you use the Perl debugger from the command line.

The new version does not require a .perldb file (though you can still use one). 
You can now do this:

    perl -MDB::Color -e some_program.pl
