Thanks, guys.

I was about to point out the difficulties for editors to get their
syntax highlighting and auto-indenting right, but then I remembered
that programming languages are (or should be) designed for the
convenience of people and not to make the tasks easier for tools
working on them.

Some other fairly-commonly-occurring possibilities are:

$Tohono-O'odham  # Native American Indian words.

$don't-reset # Contractions.

@int'l-shipping-options  # Abbreviations ("international").

$Tim-O'Reilly# :-)

While I understand why - in identifiers is The Right Thing (tm), I
fail to come up with better examples for the use of ' in identifiers
as $larry's-change.
Is that the intended use of ' in identifiers.
