Dear Pak Firdaus,

I would much appreciate your help.  USINDO is currently seeking an
appropriate candidate, preferably an Indonesian, to run our Jakarta office.
Would it be possible for you to broadcast across your PERMIAS network the
following description of the position on offer?

We are looking for an Executive Director who would ideally be a U.S.
university graduate with strong English, communication and computer skills,
significant work experience and other talents suitable to carry and extend
the reach, good will and mission of USINDO in Indonesia.

The Jakarta office will undertake the following functions:

1).  USINDO Support and Contact Network
· Expand lists of financial contributing individuals and corporations in
Indonesia.
· Establish wide-ranging database for Indonesia and assemble and maintain
correct phone, fax and email contact information for an expanding network of
people and organizations.
· Establish and maintain contact with key Indonesians.
· Establish contact with other US related organizations in Indonesia and
explore opportunities for cooperation, through which USINDO might expand its
leverage and activities.

2).  Fundraising
· Support efforts to raise funding from local sources to meet personnel,
program and administrative costs of the office.
· Develop events, contracts and other fundraising opportunities.

3).  Visitor Exchange Programs
· Schedule and provide program and administrative support for Washington
office personnel and selected other USINDO related visitors (e.g. Board
members).
· Schedule and help administer Congressional staff visits, provide
logistics, etc.
· Facilitate USINDO Summer Studies program assisting with Jakarta
orientation program and providing necessary administrative support.
· Assist in identifying Indonesians coming to the US and persuade them to
take part in USINDO programs preferably at their own expense, but
financially assisted where appropriate.  Provide administrative support as
appropriate.

4).  Contract Management
· Assist in managing contracts with IRIS, CSIS and other such additional
public and private contracts USINDO engages in bearing in mind USINDO's
desire to expand institutional linkages and sources of project income.
· Develop new contract possibilities.

5).  USINDO Programs
· Develop and conduct programs for members and contact network, using
Americans and other foreign visitors, similar to Open Forum and other
meetings held in Washington.

6).  Report
· Undertake such substantive and administrative reporting to and exchanges
with the Washington office as relevant to support USINDO programs.

7).  Administrative
· Assist Washington office with mailing and such other administrative
support as required
· Operate Jakarta office in an efficient and economical manner.
