How to (temporarily) turn off the annoying new Gmail floating
formatting panel
It turns out that this annoying feature (which is apparently gradually
rolling out, not everyone can see it yet) can be disabled on a message
by message basis by clicking the "A" with the underbar in the lower
static formatting panel. This causes the floating panel above to
toggle off. A setting to do this permanently would be preferable, but
this is better than nothing. -L
