[Give me a break!] YouTube Will Link Directly to Wikipedia to Fight Conspiracy Theories
https://www.wired.com/story/youtube-will-link-directly-to-wikipedia-to-fight-conspiracies/ Here's how it will work: If you search and click on a conspiracy theory video about, say, chemtrails, YouTube will now link to a Wikipedia page that debunks the hoax alongside the video. - - - Let's see now, what could go wrong with THIS idea? Well, first, we know that under the best of circumstances, Wikipedia pages can be full of misinformation for long periods of time. But once Wikipedia pages are linked to YouTube videos this way, those pages are going to become the targets of the very fake news mongers behind the conspiracy theories in the first place, triggering new mutation page change wars over the contents of those pages. It's bad enough when Google Knowledge Panels point to inaccurate Wikipedia information -- this could be much worse. Let's all say this together now: Wikipedia is NOT a reliable source at any given time for any given information. Period.
