since some month we use PITR and it works fine. We make a base backup
once a week. For testing if everything will work when needed we replay
the wal files every day to the base backup on a second machine. It works
fine except for two time when we saw a strange problem. The recovery
process
Your best bet would be to query the system tables. Something like
SELECT definition FROM pg_views;

When using redirect_stderr = true the permissions of the resulting
logfile are 600 (owner and group are postgres). Is it possible to change
the permission to 640 or 660 (without recompiling postgres?)?
