For pgserver, all I have to do is look in the profile I'm using (profile.helio).

How do I figure this out for the client library.

BTW, is the client library the same a cli_c?

Check whether both the server and client lib are using the same type of sockets. (Unix sockets vs TCP/IP). If you're using TCP/IP, make sure the loopback device is up.
