No :-( the recipe I tried for writing the DirectFB driver was:
read a driver that either is very simple or deals with a backend
you know well, try to understand it, then try to reproduce
functionality piece by piece.

Development of PicoGUI is currently halted; if I find a way to
resume it, documentation is the second thing on my list (after
finishing the half-baked DFB driver)

I used to compile it for MIPSel/ucLinux.  If you set up a
cross-compiling environment, you will find PicoGUI
cross-compiles neatly.
