I've added the requirements of the GNU autotools in INSTALL, and added a
workaround for missing SDL m4 file.

(PS: I haven't experienced any syntax error in the configure script whereas
I've tested the installation on a box that didn't have SDL. I still can't
reproduce this bug...)
