You don't have to put in a new cartridge, you can take a crystal cartridge
apart, throw out the Rochelle salt crystal and put in a modern crystal
from a 50s-6-s era crystal cartridge. I've done it successfully several
times. The only alteration to the old cartridge is that you might have to
use

I normally don't get mixed up in these discussions, but I hve an CA V-225,
and surprise! the cartridges are dead (and I haven't had the guts to take
on the changer). RCA used crystal pickups after 1938, with the exception of
the little puppy faced magnetic on some models.

I have an odd tonearm and reproducer from a Cliftophone does anyone know
anything about this brand? It would make a great frankenphone, because the arm
and reproducer are unusual. The reproducer attaches horizontally to the tonearm
