I have a rear mount Talkophone Arm that I recently purchased and I would like
to see how it is mounted to the rear of the machine. This is for a Clarke
Model. I don't want to drill holes in the case. If somebody can provide
pictures of the mounted bracket along with the inside of the case. I
Anyone on the list ever knowingly buy a Crap-O-Phone? As in...on purpose?
Fess up. :-)
Ok.
I'll be first.
Years ago, I saw an octagonal cased crap-o-phone that I thought was kind of
cool looking. Someone from this list or the Phonolist said that they would
order a bunch of them and the
I accidentally purchased a horn from one, I entered the starting bid ($15.00)
to see how high it would go and I won it. I kept if for years before selling
it to another collector who needed a horn. I took a loss on it but did not
care as it was being used. Steve

Since it's a brass horn, I'm guessing it has been chemically treated to look
like bronze...

Yes, I bought one years ago. It had a very attractive case and just looked

I actually thought about purchasing one, to convert to a dock for my iPhone,
but better judgement took over. It would have to be under $100 to consider for
another use... So, instead I made an iPhone dock out of old phonograph wood

I have to admit, I kind of like the faux wood finish of the horn.
We gladly purchased a genuine Crap-O-Phone from a man who had bought it and
found out it was fake. He purchased a nice Victor III from us and asked if I
would pay him $40 for his Crap-O-Phone because he never wanted to see it
again. I gave him the $40 because it had a Victor III-IV motor and cast

construction. They actually do sound good. I agree with Harvey, when sold as
a reproduction they are part of the phonograph group and I know people who
purchased them as they could not afford an outside horn
I have one for about the same reason, to show what the fakes look like.
I've also lent it out as a play prop.

A Frankenphone (based on a Standard A) yes; crap-o-phone, no. The

waiting for that day.
