Re: [Phono-L] Phono-L] Wayne Show Stanton Auction

2010-04-29 Thread Richard Buck
I thought the Idelia was in very good condition. The prices for the rarer
machines compared very favorably with the auction/price lists I have. I
wanted the Berliner trademark but quickly got blown out of the water. It
went for $10,000 (maybe a little more). If that is not a record it has to
be close. The prices overall seemed higher than the last two years, perhaps
another indication the recession is over. Bad news for me in that I am in
the accumulation phase of my addiction.

What kind of condition was the Idelia in? $20,000 does not seem like a
record price.

Greetings,

Photo's of
the Wayne Show can be found on the WIMAPS website at
www.wimaps.org

The show was well attended and sales were brisk. A rainy day detoured
sales in the parking lot on Saturday. The show is growing and the
attendance was excellent.

The Stanton auction was incredible with awesome

Very rare Salter mahogany
double bow front record cabinet: $6700.00
Rare lever-wind ratchet
phonograph: $21,000.00
Edison Idealia Cylinder Phonograph: $20,000.00
Vogue records sold between $25.00 $35.00 with the exception of a few
rare
Vogues that made $100.00
Phonograph lamps were in demand with a Fairy Lamp bringing $3800.00.
