The flat boss landing on the screw does nothing to center the weight when the 
carriage is lifted from the record.

I got the photo, thanks so very much.  I really appreciated the sentence above 
more than you can know because that was so very important.  At first I thought 
these were made like the regular automatic and had a centering function.  I 
always appreciate your help and wanted to thank you for the photo and the 
technical assistance.  These are so seldom seen that most people do not even 
know what I am talking about.

Hi Steve:
I have sent you a photo off-list since I don't know if the list can handle 
attachments.
Almost everything about these early Gems seems to be not be up to Edison's 
usual quality standards.  
The flat boss landing on the screw does nothing to center the weight when the 
carriage is lifted from the record.
