Broken spring or spring that slipped off the arbor. You would have to remove
the springs to see the problem. These springs are easy to remove, at least for
me, just write down the direction the wind in. I do not do motor work these
days.

I'd guess the spring is broken on the outside end. I've done several -
not too difficult if you're adventurous... If nobody has a better idea
let me know and I'll walk you through it.
